The figures are a mix of old 1/76 scale “Matchbox Anzac Infantry” and “Airfix Australian Infantry”. There are also some simple conversion jobs with a few helmets replacing slouch hats, and a couple of figures from other sets slipping in there too. On some of the bases you might notice some offcuts of plastic plants. They’re there as markers to help indicate that certain figures have over the average guts ratings for the rules we use. Looking at the photos now, the plants look too plasticky for my liking, but I suppose it’s a practical solution. Heavy weapons

A couple of the scenarios in the Berlin campaign that our wargame group was recently gaming needed some squads of “elderly policemen”, many of whom had to be armed with just handguns. I used figures from various sets of Germans from Revell, Airfix, Caesar, & HaT, and even some of Orion’s sets of cops-n-robbers and gave them heads with shakos taken from the HaT Industrie 1/72 scale WWI German Jaegers

We’ve now gamed the first three scenarios and at the moment it’s neck and neck. These pictures are from the latest scenario where troops from the 1st Parachute Regiment on the way to Ede-Arnhem junction come into contact in the woods with elements of the Hohenstaufen Anti-Aircraft Detachment 9. The British won this scenario hands-down (I played the Germans and lost miserably)
